Solenoid valves Components for process safety Solenoid valves are used in a wide range of areas. In general solenoid valves can be used to control and regulate the flow of gaseous and liquid media. They are actuated only electrically. Due to the construction solenoid valves have a safety position when voltage failure. Solenoid Valves, pilot operated Valves like this always need a pressure difference to the operating pressure to be able to open and close. The minimum required pressure for this is stated as the minimum pressure in the technical data sheet. In this case, the actuator only has a pilot function, through which the main sealing element, diaphragm or piston, is relieved. The medium pressure and/or the existing pressure difference lifts the main seal up. With this control type it is possible for little magnets to control high pressures with large nominal sizes. Attention ... We indicate a minimum pressure for our valves. The pressure differential is necessary, in order to lift the sealing element reliable or to close. Decreases the pressure differential under the indicated minimum pressure, we cannot guarantee a proper function. Solenoid Valves, force pilot operated Valves of this type switch on at 0 bar and can be used where direct acting valves are used. However, they are supplied with smaller coils for higher pressures and larger nominal sizes if used above this application range. The actuator opens a pilot borehole and then lifts the sealing element from its seat directly or supported by Δp of the operating pressure. The special feature of this control system is that the actuator in the pressure range can open and close the valve without using the operating pressure. In case of pressure differences, usually when opening the valve, the collected energy is used. Attention ... Special: No differential pressure is necessary in order to work. Force pilot operated valves open and close independently of pressure and seal only in the direction of the arrow. The preferable mounting is with upright actuator. Please contact us before installing in a different position or into a riser. In order to avoid water hammer effects an adjustable close muting is supplied as standard for sizes from G5/4 and DN32. Solenoid Valves, direct acting Valves of this type switch the sealing element directly via the magnetic system. In this case the seal usually needs to be lifted against the effective operating pressure from the seat simply by the actuator. Supported by the pressure of the medium, a closing spring keeps the valve closed. The function depends on the size of the seat, the effective operating pressure and magnetic power. Attention ... PTFE is a hard plastic and can lead to slight leaks in low pressure ranges which is why we can only certify the leak rate DIN3230 T3 here.
